Knee pain is one of the musculoskeletal problems. Knee pain is a very common problem in our country. A study shows that 34.60% of the population in our country suffers from this knee pain (Mohsin.M.F. et al.,2019).
Knee pain is discomfort or soreness in the knee joint that can be caused by a variety of factors, including injury, disease, or overuse. Some common causes of knee pain include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, ligament sprains, cartilage tears, gout, and infections. Symptoms of knee pain can range from mild to severe and may include stiffness, swelling, redness, warmth, and difficulty moving the joint. In some cases, knee pain can be accompanied by other symptoms, such as a popping or snapping sound, weakness, or instability in the knee. If you're experiencing knee pain, it's important to seek medical attention to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment.
This problem increases a lot at a certain age. But it can happen at any age. If we say by age, children are usually for rickets. It causes knee pain and knee bends.
If we say in middle age, knee pain is due to any injury. Be it a meniscus injury, a ligament injury or a fracture - these are the reasons why people in middle age have problems. And in old age knee pain is mainly due to osteoarthritis, osteoporosis.
Knee is basically composed of 3 bones namely femur, tibia and patella. Several ligaments help hold these bones together. It is also surrounded by bursae (protects against friction of muscles and tendons during movement). There are cartilage (articular cartilage, meniscus), tendons, muscle (quadriceps muscle which provides stability to the knee). When all these parts are injured, eroded or any kind of disruption occurs, the knee hurts. Show less
